Nambawan Café reviews
57 Nice location but lower your expectations a lot if you choose to eat here, be ready for +1hr wait time before you get your meal & so so food. There were 5 of us, we each got our meals 10min apart, the kids got their meal last (almost 1hr 20 later). Busy lunch time, highly understaffed.
We saw ppl line up to get their money back bc they had to leave & got tired of waiting.
I ordered coconut smoothie and it has no taste. Also the hawaian pizza.
The energizer drink most of it was just water.
I ordered an Aussi burger and one tea. The tea arrived in 2 minutes, the burger just after 45 minutes. It was completely empty and the waiter told me: « sorry, we forgot your meal », staff not professional. Can you imagine a burger with, tomato, lettuce, cheese and other ingredients in a sandwich bread? Impossible to eat it, my plate looked likes a big mess! Also, the quality of the meat was very poor, had not any taste without sauces. Nice views of the bay.
Had a lunch there with my partner the other day, cause he used to come here before covid years ago and loved it. Had a high expectation, but it was very disappointing, really. We ordered the burger and fish wrap; the chips in burger were cold and not crunchy anymore - how can you mess up with chips, really? The wrap was okay, but fish in it tasted like oil. Apart from that, the waitress that served us was not friendly at all and seemed like she didnt want to take order or help at all. Needless to say, my partner and I would not want to come back anymore
Visited Nambawan Cafe on 22 Feb 2020. My wife ordered a Chicken Caesar salad. It consisted mainly of lettuce leaves and maybe 4 small pieces of shredded chicken. There was no Caesar dressing on it, instead a plastic bottle of mayonnaise was thumped onto the table. My wife complained & a Caucasian male apologised for the lack of chicken, (as apparently they had nearly run out of it). He also promised a refund. Here’s a thought - take it off the menu - don’t pretend it’s a Chicken Caesar salad when it isn’t. Then a female Ni-van employee berated my wife for eating too many of the leaves - she was rude & non apologetic. We were duly refunded 800 Vatu, but it left a bad taste in our mouth. Visited this cafe 6 years ago & the food was great & staff attitude was much better. Wake up Vanuatu, Australians account for 70% of your tourism, and we won’t accept anything you dish up to us. Overall, very disappointed.
Only meal they served fish and chips which was disappointing, the amount of fish was small. Great views from the seating.
Positives: Great location, good coffee
Negatives: Ordinary breakfast, painfully slow service (had to chase staff for ordered items), staff disinterested
Very ordinary service, waited ages (35mins) for food to arrive, it was not bad.try another place
Great location, beautiful view, reasonably priced and tasty food, staff looks like they really shouldn't be working there.
Simple food, but a nice view. Its location is its main perk, but there are many places near by that arr either better or cheaper depending on what your after
Good value dishes compared to some other local cafes and restaurant. Limited menu but food really nice. Happy hour and good wifi, and good location on the waterfront. I was recommended to visit here by two separate people and I do recommend it for an affordable meal.
I'd walked passed this place a few times and finally gave in today to get a bite to eat. Overlooking the waterfront, this is a central spot that is located near the undercover craft market and a number of other eateries.
I had an Aussie Burger and a bottle of water - nice. Price is same as what you'd pay in Australia. No side salad, chips or anything extra - just a burger.
Went back a few days later and had pizza - again not bad. Cleanliness is what you'd expect in Vanuatu if you're not in a resort.
Takeaway food is available. Wifi was actually pretty good - better than my hotel.
Wheelchair friendly. Kid friendly. Service was lovely and the staff very helpful.
Has movies Wed and Saturday nights. I think it is affiliated with the brewery bar as staff wear the same tshirts. Has a happy hour and on the esplanade but didn't seem like it was busy outside of happy hour. Had a pizza there which was average.
The food was good, the service was good. My only issue was that my plate wasn't clean. Maybe I was expecting too much. I did end up with a bit of a funny tum-tum after this, but that could have been from anything.
The food is worth it, big feeds. Again, burgers and hamburgers dominate. They were good and the kids were full. Beer is plentiful in Vanuatu, and you are never too far from a Tusker.
There are a few other cafes here, but they were closed when we were there. A public toilet is also available for 50 Vatu. Always handy!
Great atmosphere and good view in front of the sea. The juice was tasty but the food was terrible.
The atmosphere was perfect! It’s so beautiful, and the breeze is really nice.
They do have wifi for paying customers with is really nice. And the service is decent.
The food was good; but could have used a few tweaks. The chicken and bacon quesadilla was good, aside from not having enough or maybe real ranch. The burger was great, it just needed some more seasoning. The smoothies were not very good. Pizza was great though.
There’s also a free movie on some nights. It starts around 6pm. Check them out on FB to see what they have playing and when.
Centrally located and if there is a cruise ship in town then it will be packed. The coffee is good flavour however it is served too hot to drink and that ruins it a bit. It is usually a fairly easy to find somewhere to sit to drink or you can take away.
Gorgeous views, fastest service we’ve had here except when a cruise ship was here. Then they got our order wrong 3 times and it took 1 hour plus repeated requests to get it despite not being as busy as other places. Numerous people ordered after us and got their fully cooked meals before us,
Wifi worked great if you are close to the ordering area and there aren’t many people. Food was good.
Coffee was ideal as were the selections of teas and chai latte was spot on.
Staff were friendly and this is definitely our favourite spot to eat/work/get coffee here.
Just avoid it on days there are cruise ships.
Great Australian-style cafe in Port Villa. One thing to note is there is a local carrying iguanas who waits in and around this cafe and targets tourists. He puts the iguanas on you before you can say no, and then demands money.
The scenery, service and food are all great, the only bad thing is that there are too many flies.
